Video released of donation box theft in Vaughan

By News Staff

York Region police are trying to track down a man who stole a donation box in Vaughan last week.

Around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, the man ordered take-out food at a restaurant near Highway 7 and Ansley Grove Road, west of Weston Road.

While he was waiting for his food, he noticed a Children’s Miracle Network donation box full of cash.

It’s alleged he got a pair of wire cutters from his car and cut the wire that attached the donation box to the counter. He then grabbed the box and took off.

Police said the money was to be donated to SickKids Foundation.

The man is white, five-foot-seven to six feet tall and was wearing a black UFC cap, a black jacket with a hood, black track pants and black running shoes.
