Toronto man, 23, identified as Streetsville murder victim

By News Staff

Police have released the name of the 23-year-old man who was shot and killed Saturday morning in Mississauga.

Peel regional police say Deshawn Brandon Nicholson, of Toronto, was gunned down outside the Kinsmen Club of Streetsville.

Police were called to the scene around 4 a.m. following numerous reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found the victim with obvious signs of trauma. Despite efforts to revive him, Nicholson eventually succumbed to his injuries.

There was a party going on inside the community centre at the time, police said, but they don’t have a description of the suspect or suspects.

“We do know that at the time, there were a large number of people at this party,” Const. Harinder Sohi said Sunday.

“We’re still asking for people to come forward, we’re still trying to determine why he was at this event. Was [Nicholson] an invited guest? Did he just show up on his own? How did he get here? Who was he here with?”

Police are asking for any witnesses to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
