Police have charged a 28-year-old Markham man after a crash that killed a woman and her four-year-old daughter almost two months ago.

Around 9:40 a.m. on Aug. 29, a Toyota Corolla and Infinity G35 collided head-on just east of 16th and Bur Oak avenues.

The 42-year-old Markham woman who was driving the Corolla and her daughter died in hospital. The 28-year-old Infinity driver and his one-year-old daughter were treated in hospital for minor injuries.

Police have determined the Infinity driver had been drinking, and they arrested him on Thursday.

Christopher Singh of Markham has been charged with two counts each of impaired driving causing death, driving with a blood-alcohol level over 80 milligrams causing death, and dangerous driving causing death.

“If you suspect an impaired driver on our roads, please call 911 immediately,” said Const. Andy Pattenden. “It is a crime in progress.”
