Police seek witnesses after woman viciously attacked in Vaughan

Police in York Region are looking for witnesses in a violent early morning robbery in Vaughan on Sunday.

A 23-year-old woman suffered serious injuries when she was assaulted from behind while waiting for a bus in the area of Weston Road and Steeles Avenue just before 7 a.m.

Police say the victim was struck multiple times in the head with an unknown object by the suspect, who then made off with her phone.

Police say there is no suspect description at this time and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area to come forward with any information.

Police also warn people in the area to be vigilant as the victim does not appear to have been targeted in the robbery.
