Police say two men caught racing on Vaughan street, again

By News Staff

It was déjà vu all over again for York Regional police on Tuesday night when they arrested two men for allegedly racing at high speeds on Rutherford Road in Vaughan.

“These same two people were charged at the same location two years ago with the exact same offences,” Const. Andy Pattenden confirmed, calling it a classic case of “two wrongs don’t make a right.”

“At this point in time I can only imagine what their insurance rates are like,” he quippped.

Pattenden said both drivers were charged with ‘race motor vehicle’ after they were allegedly caught racing 78 kilometers over the speed limit at around 9 p.m.

Pattenden said they reached speeds of 138 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Their licences were suspended and their vehicles have been impounded for seven days.

“If you’re going to race at high speeds on our roads, we are going to charge you and find you,” Pattenden warned.
