The Toronto police homicide unit is investigating after a truck driver was shot and killed at an Etobicoke trucking company.

Police were called to BTI Cartage on Humber College Boulevard, near Finch Avenue West, just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

They found the man with gunshot wounds and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have identified him as Maninder Singh Sandhu, 31, of Brampton. An autopsy is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Company owner Sukhi Badial told CityNews Sandhu was newly married and might have had a young daughter.

“He was a very, very good guy. I know his brother. I know his friends … very good person. Hardworking guy,” Badial said.

“I don’t know what could’ve went wrong. I don’t know. It’s very strange. I’m very shocked this happened here. Very shocked.”

Badial said because of the police investigation, his drivers haven’t been able to make deliveries or pick up freight.

Police are canvassing the area and reviewing security camera footage.
