Police seek man wanted in downtown business delivery scam

By News Staff

Toronto police are searching for a suspect wanted in a series of frauds in the downtown core.

Police say a man pretending to be a local business owner contacted the manager of a neighbouring business in the Adelaide Street West and Duncan Street area, asking him to receive and pay for an expected parcel delivery back on August 12.

Shortly after, the suspect showed up at the business posing as a delivery man, dropped off the package and was paid. It was then discovered that the other business owner was not expecting a delivery at all.

Five days later, the suspect pulled a similar stunt in the Queen Street West and Brock Avenue area.

Both times, the suspect’s image was captured on security video. He’s described as having a medium build with black hair in a long ponytail.
