Five youths are among nine people facing attempted murder charges after a violent home invasion in 2015.

Peel police say the suspects forced their way into Abdallah Butale’s Brampton home last September and “savagely” attacked him with golf clubs, hammers and knives.

In a release police said Butale, 52, had to be airlifted to a Toronto hospital where he was treated for life-threatening injuries.

All of the accused appeared in court on Wednesday.

The adult males facing charges are: Bryan Poobalasingham, 24, Brandon Poobalasingham, 21, Nivethan Alakeswaran, 19, and Vitaliy Ricknauth, 21, all of Brampton.

The other suspects can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
