Motorcyclist ‘knocked me unconscious’ in Hwy. 401 incident, passenger says

A 22-year-old Kitchener man now faces charges after a wild night on Highway 401 that saw a driver and a passenger get into a confrontation with a group of motorcyclists, before their car burst into flames.

The Ontario Provincial Police says Andrei Sisu faces a number of charges including dangerous driving, several drug offences and breach of probation.

The incident began around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday near the Dixie Road off-ramp.

One of at least six motorcyclists who were driving erratically became violent and “knocked me unconscious,” a woman who was in the car told CityNews.

It appears the driver of the car was trying to get around a group of motorcyclists that was blocking the westbound lanes and weaving in and out of traffic.

“They were going across all lanes of traffic, slowing down, doing wheelies, performing stunts, and so on,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told CityNews.

 

They were blocking all three lanes of traffic, said the woman, who did not want her name used.

“My boyfriend [Sisu, the driver] pulled up next to them and I rolled down the window and told them to move,” she said.

“[The motorcyclist] told me to f*** off, so I did the same. Two seconds later he’s three inches away from my window — He could have brushed my hair that’s how close he was — going 100 kilometres an hour on a motorcycle. He takes his fist and smashes my right mirror off. I told my boyfriend to get off at Dixie Road because I was freaking out,” she said.

All of the vehicles exited at Dixie, police confirmed.

The motorcyclists then “swarmed” the car, the woman said. She says she got out in an attempt to stop them. When she grabbed one motorcyclist, “He turned around and knocked me unconscious on the off-ramp.

“My boyfriend tried to pull to the other side of the road but they chased him again. They wouldn’t stop. They had no licence plates and all black clothes,” she said.

The OPP said the driver, Sisu, fled but was unable to make a turn.

“He mounted a concrete wall, came to rest in a loading bay, where the vehicle rolled over and was consumed by fire,” Schmidt said.

Witnesses helped him from his car on Aerowood Drive, and Mississauga firefighters quickly knocked down the fire.

Sisu and the woman had minor injuries. When he appeared in court, he wore a bandage on his head.

The motorcyclists have not been found.

Sisu will be back in court on Monday for a bail hearing. He was already on bail and breached a conditional sentence on an unrelated matter.when the confrontation happened on Thursday night.
