GTA man arrested after fraud investigation

Police have made an arrest in a fraud investigation into events dating back to 2014.

It is alleged that a 44-year-old woman was the target of a fraudulent scheme between November 2014 and February 2015.

Police say the woman sent an undisclosed amount of money to Japan.

A man worked in conjunction with people overseas to receive and further launder proceeds.

Police say they found the man in possession of items used to create forged documents.

Fifty-two-year-old Charles Olutu also known as ‘Dr. Love,’ of Vaughan, was arrested and charged with one count of laundering proceeds of crime and one count of possession of instruments of forgery.

He appeared in a North York court on Thursday.
