$50,000 reward offered two years after innocent bystander shot dead

By News Staff

Toronto police have released a sketch of a person of interest and announced a $50,000 reward, two years after an innocent bystander was shot dead outside of a downtown nightclub.

Jelena Loncar, 32, had just finished a bartending shift at Hunters Landing restaurant on Aug. 26, 2014. She was standing outside C Lounge on Wellington Street, just west of Spadina Avenue, when she was hit by a bullet around 3 a.m.

She died later in hospital.

On Friday, police offered a reward for any information that leads to a conviction. They also released a description of a person of interest in the case. They’re looking for a black man, approximately 18 to 25 years old, five-feet-10-inches to six-feet tall. He has thin build, gold grills on his teeth, and short black hair that may be in cornrows.

Two years ago, police said the man they believed to be the intended target was shot six times while running toward Spadina. Police said he was co-operating with the investigation.

About 20 minutes before the shooting, three cars had been in the parking lot of the House of Lancaster strip club on The Queensway when there was an exchange of gunfire.

The drivers went straight from there to Wellington Street, police said.

On Friday, police released a photo of all three cars.

The first vehicle is a white Chrysler 300, 2011-2012 base model. It has no sunroof, standard rims, no front plate or front-plate holder and a small black roof antenna knob.

The second vehicle is a dark four-door vehicle with no sunroof and standard rims. It has a small spoiler lip on the trunk and both front and rear plates.

The third vehicle is also a dark four-door vehicle. This one has tinted side, front and rear windows, no sunroof, standard rims and both front and rear plates.
