A 57-year-old taxi driver has been charged after he ran into a bike courier on a downtown street last week.

Police said on Aug. 18, around 5:30 p.m., the driver was headed north on Bay Street, south of Bloor, when he got into a physical fight with the 31-year-old man, who was working for Favour Delivery.

As the driver and cyclist continued north the cyclist hit the taxi’s passenger window with his hand. At that point, the taxi swerved into the cyclist and knocked him onto the sidewalk.

The cyclist had minor injuries.

The taxi driver, Ali Farkhondehfall of Thornhill, was arrested on Thursday and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in an Old City Hall courtroom on Oct. 4, 2016.
