OPSEU and its frontline staff reach tentative agreement

By The Canadian Press

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing its own frontline staff.

The agreement is the second one hammered out at the table after an earlier deal signed on June 30 had been rejected by the Ontario Public Service Staff Union on July 16.

The new tentative deal, which OPSEU says was unanimously endorsed by both sides, was signed shortly after a strike deadline of 12:01 a.m. Thursday.

Details will not be released until after a ratification meeting on or before Sunday.

OPSEU says the contract which expired June 30 remains in force until then.

The union’s front line staff negotiate and enforce OPSEU contracts and provide support to members on benefits, pensions and other issues. They work at 20 regional offices in Ontario and at two head office sites.
