York police officer charged with assault after Toronto arrest

A York region police officer is facing charges after he allegedly assaulted a man during an arrest.

It happened during an investigation near Queen and Lisgar streets around 4 p.m. on March 30.

Toronto police say the York officer was one of several officers who were involved in the investigation.

One man ran from police, and was found behind a building on Queen West. The York officer allegedly caught up and assaulted the suspect during the arrest.

Const. Michael Partridge, 35, was charged with assault with a weapon and assault. He will appear in court on Thursday.
