Grieving family approached by realtors after funeral

It’s not exactly what you’d expect when grieving the loss of a loved one. But a family from White Rock British Columbia is expressing shock over the response it received from a pair of realtors.

The father of Launi Smith Bowie had been a widower for only three weeks when he got what, on the surface, looked like a card expressing condolences for the loss of his 72-year-old wife.

Inside were two business cards and then a note that read, “We’re sorry to hear of your wife’s passing.” The cards came from a pair of realtors with White Rock’s HomeLife Benchmark Realty, Linda Shaver and Leanne DeSouza.

And the note continued, “Please let us know if we can help in any way with your real estate needs when the time is right.”

Bowie’s daughter was outraged, saying the two lacked compassion and questioning if the move was ethical. She says at best, the realtors showed very bad judgement.
