A Guelph man has been charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in North York.

The alleged incident happened in a residential building near Graydon Hall Drive and Don Mills Road just before 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Toronto police say the man claimed he didn’t have his keys and followed the teen into the building.

He got into the elevator with her and then allegedly sexually assaulted her. The girl was able to escape and get out of the elevator.

She was also sexually assaulted in the lobby of her building, police said Friday.

The arrest comes a day after police released security camera images of the suspect. Investigators said he was identified as result of calls from the community.

Liberito Panaga, 50, was arrested on Friday and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. He is expected to appear in court on Friday morning.

Police are concerned there may be other victims.
