Man arrested after alleged sex assault at Wayhome music festival

By The Canadian Press

Ontario Provincial Police say two men have been charged in separate incidents at the Wayhome music festival in Oro-Medonte, Ont., north of Toronto.

Police say they were called 38 times during the three-day festival, which started last Friday.

Investigators say the first arrest is related to an alleged theft, though they don’t specify what was reportedly taken.

They say a 20-year-old Brampton man is charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

Police later arrested a 20-year-old Oakville man and charged him with sexual assault.

A 19-year-old Ottawa woman was sexually assaulted early in the morning on July 23, Barrie OPP said.

Jake A. Omay will next appear in court on Sept. 19.

There was a police presence throughout the festival, which saw thousands camping at the site.
