A motorcyclist was killed early Saturday morning on Highway 401 in one of four serious motorcycle crashes in the GTA in less than 24 hours.

Police say around 3:30 a.m., three motorcycles and a transport truck crashed in the eastbound lanes, east of Allen Road. The express lanes were closed from east of Highway 400 to past Avenue Road due to the collision.

A man died at the scene, while a woman rider was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

“We don’t have a lot of details, but we are appealing for any witnesses [who] may have seen this collision or seen the motorcycles or the truck prior to the wreck,” said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

Several hours later, around 11 a.m., there was a serious motorcycle crash at Highway 12 at Brock Concession Road 1.  Schmidt said the intersection would be closed for hours.

And on Friday, a 31-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle collided with a car on Royal York Road in Etobicoke around 8:30 p.m. There were two females in the car. The passenger has life-threatening injuries, and the driver has minor injuries.

Around 5 p.m. Friday, a man in his 40s was critically injured when his motorcycle hit a car on Trethewey Drive, near Jane Street.
