Police probing possible abduction of elderly woman in Parkdale

By News Staff

Police are investigating after a woman in her 80s was put in a flatbed truck and driven away while she was walking in Parkdale on Tuesday afternoon.

Witnesses said around 2:30 p.m., a woman with a walker was in the area of Springhurst and Spencer avenues, near Lake Shore Boulevard West and Jameson Avenue, when a flatbed truck pulled up beside her.

She was lifted into the cab of the truck, and her walker was placed on the truck bed.

The truck then headed north on Spencer.

The woman is white, five-foot-two, with a medium to heavy build and long, grey hair down her back. She was wearing dark clothing.

Police said it could be a case of family helping the woman, but they want to make sure she’s safe.

Anyone who can help identify the woman or has information about her whereabouts can call police at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
