Family dispute leads to car chase, crash and brass knuckles attack: OPP

By The Canadian Press

Police say a family dispute triggered an attack in the back of a pickup truck that ended in a crash in eastern Ontario.

Ontario Provincial Police say it happened near Kaladar, Ont., around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

They say an argument that began on the side of the road turned violent, prompting the driver of the pickup truck to get in his vehicle and drive away.

Police allege a passenger from another car jumped into the bed of the truck as it drove away and punched two passengers with brass knuckles.

OPP say there was then a car chase that ended when the car cut off the truck and the two collided.

Daniel Hamlyn, 27, of South Frontenac Township, has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, two counts of failing to comply with a prohibition order and failing to comply with a probation order.

Police have not said how the parties are related.
