Former Vaughan hockey trainer charged with sexual assault of boy

By News Staff

A former Vaughan hockey trainer has been charged with sexually assaulting a young boy, and York Regional Police are asking any other victims to come forward.

The accused surrendered to police earlier this month.

The alleged victim came to police nearly two years ago, on Jan. 30, 2014. He told police that in 1974, when he was 12 years old, he played hockey at a Woodbridge arena. The accused was  a trainer there.

He befriended the boy and often drove him home from the rink, the victim told police. The victim, now a man, told police he was assaulted numerous times on those drives home between October of 1974 and March 1976.

During that time, the accused took the victim to his family home in Quebec and to a cottage in Huntsville, where he sexually assaulted him.

Nicolas Cadorette, 67, of Abbotsford, B.C., turned himself in on June 14. He is charged with two counts of indecent assault of a male, and two counts of gross indecency, as the charges would have appeared at that time. Neither charge still exists in the Criminal Code of Canada.

York regional police released a video appeal for information. Watch it below or click here to view it.
