Crown brand Dried Coco Herbs recalled due to salmonella

By News Staff

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled Crown brand Dried Coco Herbs due to possible salmonella contamination.

The herbs, sold in 100-gram packages, will have an expiry date of 22-09-2016 (Sept. 22, 2016), and a UPC of 8 98989 77813 9.

The product was sold in Ontario.

So far, no illnesses have been reported.

Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause illness. The CFIA said young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are most at risk.

Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
