The sun and the heat can be fun but the Ontario Provincial Police are warning against having too much fun and then getting behind the wheel.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says it’s been a busy start to the weekend for the OPP. Officers have already laid 45 impaired driving charges over the last 24 hours.
“It’s unacceptable,” Schmidt tells 680 News. “If you’re going to be drinking, you have to have a plan to get home. If you’re going to be driving, you have to make sure you’re not one drinking. It’s pretty simple.”
Schmidt points out that impaired driving is the leading cause of death on Ontario highways.
