Mississauga man arrested in human trafficking investigation

Update, July 9, 2018: Christopher Spencer was acquitted of all charges on June 1, 2018 by the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man in a human trafficking investigation and are asking any other victims to come forward.

Christopher Edward Spencer of Mississauga faces 11 charges after allegedly forcing a 19-year-old woman he met to have sex with clients and turn over all of the money to him over a two-day period earlier this month.

Police say that on May 12, Spencer met the victim at a strip club in Mississauga, gave her the keys to his car and asked her to pick him up the following morning. The next day, he asked her to drive him to Hamilton so he could meet up with some friends. Once there, he put the woman in a hotel room, took photos of her and placed ads for sexual services.

A few days after, the woman was able to escape and return to Toronto, where she said she was hounded by text and voice messages from the accused for several days. On May 19, the man located the 19-year-old and allegedly demanded he pay him $5,000 in order to leave him. After driving to a bank, she managed to contact police who eventually arrested him.

Police say they are concerned there may be more victims and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
