Toronto’s Bayview Avenue among Top 10 worst roads in Ontario

The Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) has revealed the worst road in Ontario: County Road 49 in Prince Edward County

It’s the first time the road has appeared on the provincial Top 10 list.

It’s also the first time Toronto didn’t crack the Top 5. Our first appearance is at No. 8, with Bayview Avenue.

“This year’s Worst Roads Campaign once again solidified that although much work has been done across the province to maintain and repair Ontario’s roads, greater investments are needed to tackle the staggering municipal infrastructure deficit in Ontario,” Geoff Wilkinson, executive director of the Ontario Road Builders’ Association, said in a statement.

“An efficient transportation system is essential for a vibrant economy and good quality of life – connecting our communities and enabling businesses to get their goods to market.”

One month ago, the CAA put out its annual poll, asking for drivers across the province to nominate and then vote for the worst roads.

1. County Road 49, Prince Edward County
2. Algonquin Blvd. W., Timmins
3. Balmoral St., Thunder Bay
4. Algonquin Blvd. E., Timmins
5. Queenston St., St. Catharines
6. Burlington St. E., Hamilton
7. Lorne St., Sudbury
8. Bayview Ave., Toronto
9. Dufferin St., Toronto
10. Riverside Dr., Timmins, tied with Water St., Thunder Bay

 

 

Last year, Dufferin was the worst road in Toronto, but the top Ontario ‘honours’ went to Algonquin Boulevard West (No. 1) and Algonquin Boulevard East (No. 2) in Timmins.
