Peel Region Police say officers attempted to stop a man that was driving erratically around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he suddenly sped away.

As the driver fled, he allegedly damaged two police cruisers. The driver stopped when he hit a utility pole at Hurontario Street and Burnamthorpe Road.

The occupants of the car suffered minor injuries, according to police.

It’s not yet known if anyone else was injured.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate.
