Two injured in Brampton collision with Peel Police cruiser

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in to look into the circumstances surrounding an early morning crash between a Honda Civic and a Peel Region Police cruiser.

Shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday morning, the officer was driving southbound on Main Street in Brampton when there was a collision with another car just south of the intersection at Williams Parkway.

A 20-year-old male and another 27-year-old male were taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a trauma centre with serious injuries. The officer suffered minor injuries in the crash.

The SIU is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward with information.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
