Fire ravages six homes under construction in Brampton

As many as six homes under construction in a new subdivision in north Brampton are either in ruins or seriously damaged after an afternoon fire.

Police and fire officials say the massive blaze broke out around 3 p.m. in the McVeen Drive and Countryside Drive area of the city, just east of Airport Road.

Strong winds had threatened other houses across the street but fire officials managed to beat back the blaze.

Officials say there are no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown.
