MARIETTA, Ga. – The Latest on the trial of a Georgia man accused of intentionally leaving his toddler son in a hot SUV to die (all times local):

5:20 p.m.

Defence attorneys for a Georgia man accused of intentionally leaving his toddler son in a hot SUV to die have asked the judge to move his trial.

Justin Ross Harris faces charges, including murder, and has been in jail since the day 22-month-old Cooper died in June 2014.

Multiple news media outlets report that Harris’ attorneys filed a motion for a change of venue Friday afternoon, about three weeks into jury selection.

The attorneys said they don’t believe an impartial jury can be found in the county where the alleged crime happened. They said the questioning of potential jurors has shown that pretrial publicity has led many to believe that Harris is guilty.

The judge said she will hear arguments on the motion Monday.

A judge has approved four more jurors for the jury pool for a trial to decide the fate of a Georgia man accused of intentionally leaving his toddler son to die in a hot SUV.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports (http://on-ajc.com/1TjWw3P ) that Cobb County Superior Court Judge Mary Staley on Friday brought the total pool to 41. If Staley elects to have 12 jurors and four alternate jurors, at least 42 prospective jurors must qualify.

Thirty-five-year-old Justin Ross Harris faces charges including murder in the June 2014 death of his 22-month-old son, Cooper.

Cobb County prosecutors have said Harris was unhappily married and was looking for an escape.

Defence attorneys say their client was a loving father and that the death was a tragic mistake.
