Police seek help identifying suspect in TTC driver assault

By News Staff

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an assault on a TTC streetcar driver.

In December 2015, a man boarded a streetcar on Queen Street West at Peter Street. He was informed by the 55-year-old operator that the transfer he was carrying was no longer valid and told that he should also be boarding via the back doors so as not to interfere with people getting off the streetcar.

At that point, the suspect reached for a stack of transfers and began punching the driver multiple times in the face and back of the head.

The suspect is described as white, medium build with a moustache and goatee. He was wearing a black toque, zip-up black hooded sweater, a black backpack and jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers.
