Order up! Woman takes dogsled through Tim Hortons

By News Staff

We do things a little differently in Canada.

Our favourite coffee shop is Tim Hortons (founded, of course, by a hockey player) and when we need to make a “Tim’s run” (the act of getting coffee), we occasionally take our dogsled team.

Steph Curry, take note: It’s not just our cold weather that makes us unique.

When New Brunswick woman Allyson Mitton saw the snow outside her home, she decided there was only one way to get her daily double-double (a coffee with two creams and two sugars):  take the dogsled.

“I think the [employees] might have been a little bit in shock,” Mitton told Breakfast Television on Thursday.

Laughing, she said that her lightweight sled didn’t trigger any sensors, so she had to get out to walk up to the order window.

“They were just so super nice, and they talked to the dogs too,” she added. (Canadians: we’re very nice.)

The coffee is a daily necessity for not just Mitton, but for many people in her town of Sussex.

“In a snow storm, the Tims is the last place to close. The grocery stores would close first,” she said.

The only problem? Mitton’s sled didn’t come with cup holders.

Mitton is also a dog trainer and she says the border collies don’t just love the winter runs – they need it.
