Bidding open for Sam the Record Man sign comeback

By News staff

The Sam the Record Man sign was once an iconic landmark in this city, and now it’s set to go up once again in Toronto’s downtown core.

This week, Ryerson University told interested companies to bid on installing the sign.

It will go on top of the Toronto Public Health building at Dundas and Victoria streets and would face Yonge-Dundas Square.

The building is around the corner from the old record store site which was on Yonge Street north of Dundas.

The sign has been in storage since 2008. Ryerson has been responsible for preserving the sign and the university is paying all costs for the sign to go back up.

It’s too early to estimate exactly when it will be installed.
