PlowTO website lets you see when your street gets plowed and salted

By News Staff

With a blast of winter set to descend on the city over the next few days, it would be nice to know when the city’s plows and salt trucks will show up to clear the white stuff away.

While the city’s new PlowTO website won’t give residents an idea of when the plows are coming, it will show them the real-time location of the winter operations crews using a Global Positioning System and a color-coded street map to show when a road was last serviced.

If the road was plowed within the last four hours, it will be shown with a green line. If a road was serviced in the last 12 hours, it will shown with a blue line and if it was serviced between 12 and 24 hours, the road will be indicated in red.

The City says varying amounts of snow falling during any snow episode and potential route changes make it difficult to predict exactly when plows and trucks will clear a certain street.

Aside from the website, you can also follow the city’s winter operations activities via its Twitter account: @TO_WinterOps.
