Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating an incident in Toronto that left a 27-year-old man in hospital.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) said Toronto police responded to a call for an assault at a rooming house on Warden Avenue, north of Danforth Avenue, around 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Officers located an injured 58-year-old man, the victim of the assault, who was taken to hospital.
Emergency Task Force officers were called to the scene, and at about 1 a.m. on Sunday entered a room in the house.
The SIU said two “conducted energy weapons,” or Tasers, were used. A 27-year-old man was arrested and taken to hospital with a leg injury.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
