Man suffers critical burns in Moss Park TCH building fire

A man was found on fire near an elevator inside a Toronto Community Housing building in Moss Park on Saturday.

Fire crews received the call for the blaze at 295 Shuter Street, between Parliament and Poulett streets, at 5:40 p.m.

Heavy smoke was visible on the seventh floor of the building.

The man was found near the seventh floor and neighbours were trying to put out the fire as his clothing was a blaze.

Toronto Fire Platoon Chief told CityNews the man suffered critical burns to 40 per cent of his body.

Police said Parliament Street is closed from from Shuter to Queen streets for their investigation.

Fire and police are continuing to investigate.

It is unclear at this time how the fire started.
