Aleksander Burdo of North York is $2.5 million richer today after becoming the first winner of a top prize in the Golden Treasures scratch game.
“It was a great day,” Burdo said, according to an OLG release. “I bought the ticket the same day that my great nephew was born.”
Burdo is a furniture salesman.
According to the OLG, he purchased a number of tickets and scratched them right in the store, a Kitchen Food Fair on Steeles Ave.
“I didn’t have my glasses on and originally thought I won $250 thousand dollars,” he said. “I asked the clerk to double check and he announced that I had won ten times that. I was in disbelief!”
Instant $250 Million Golden Treasures tickets cost $30 each and offer ten top prizes of $2.5 million.
