Homeowner charged for allegedly shooting, killing man taking his truck

Hamilton police have charged a homeowner with second-degree murder after he allegedly shot and killed a trespasser on his property.

According to police, the trespasser was attempting to steal the homeowner’s truck in the driveway at about 3 a.m. Thursday morning.

The homeowner confronted the trespasser with a firearm. The trespasser died of gunshot-related injuries at the scene.

Peter Khill, 26, has been charged with second-degree murder.

His death marks Hamilton’s third murder of the year.

Hamilton police are not releasing the name of the victim.

The highway is expected to remain closed to all vehicle traffic and pedestrians throughout the evening.
