Advance polls open in Whitby-Oshawa byelection

By News Staff

The advance polls have opened in Whitby-Oshawa so voters can choose a new provincial representative.

Christine Elliott, then the deputy leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservatives, resigned as a member of the provincial legislature in August, three months after losing her second bid for the party’s top job.

Patrick Brown is now the party leader. The PC candidate for Whitby-Oshawa is Lorne Coe.

Elizabeth Row is running for the Liberals, Niki Lundquist is the NDP candidate, and one very interesting candidate is running as an independent. The man formerly known as Sheldon Bergson is allowing voters to choose “none of the above.” Bergson legally changed his name to Above Znoneofthe, and will appear last on the ballot.

He told the CBC he is “aiming for all of the people who don’t normally vote,”

Meanwhile, Greg Vezina is running for the “None of the Above Party.”
