SIU called in after woman injured at Brampton motel

By News Staff

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after a police investigation in Brampton.

Peel police were first called to a motel on Steelwell Road near Highway 410 and Steeles Avenue just after midnight on Thursday morning.

A woman in her 20s was taken to a Toronto hospital.

In a statement released later on Thursday, the SIU said police had tried to speak to someone inside one of the motel rooms.

The woman was found outside the motel, with a back injury.

It’s not yet known how she was injured, if anyone else was involved, or if any arrests have been made.

The SIU has assigned three investigators and one forensic investigator to the case.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
