Two people shot near King Edward hotel

Toronto police are investigating after a man and a woman were shot near the King Edward hotel in downtown Toronto early Friday morning.

The shooting happened on King Street near Victoria Street around 3 a.m.

Investigators believe the shooter opened fire on a car where the woman was a passenger. She was driven to hospital, and hospital staff notified police about the shooting.

Her injuries are not life-threatening.

About 45 minutes later, a man with a gunshot wound walked into a downtown hospital.

There’s no word yet on what prompted the shooting. No arrests have been made.
