Machete attack suspect in court Wednesday

The man accused in a bizarre and unprovoked machete attack in downtown Toronto will appear in court on Wednesday.

On Dec. 23, a 30-year-old man was attacked while he stood at the corner of Bay and Dundas streets, near the Eaton Centre, around 4:30 p.m.

Security guards swooped in and subdued the assailant. He was later taken into custody.

Arlington Thompson, 35, of Queens, N.Y., is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, weapons dangerous, and assault with a weapon.

The victim had serious, but non-life threatening, injuries to his head and legs.
