Man dies after drive-by shooting in downtown core

By News Staff

A man is dead after a brazen drive-by shooting in the heart of downtown Toronto’s Entertainment District on Friday.

Toronto police say about 10 shots were fired at 80 Peter Street and a car at the scene was riddled with bullet holes.

The victim was originally believed to be a minor, but in an update police confirmed he’s a man in his 20s.

Police said that one vehicle pulled up next to another one, shots were fired, and the vehicle drove off.

Homicide has now taken over the scene.

The area has been cordoned off while police investigate.

Police are advising people use caution if they are near the area.

This is the second serious shooting in this area of Peter Street in 2015. The first incident happened on July 25 where a 21-year-old man shot and killed. He was a suspect wanted in connection with a double murder investigation.
