Water main break causes water shortage at Rouge Valley Centenary

A city of Toronto water main break on Neilson Road caused a a halt in water supply at Rouge Valley Centenary Hospital in Scarborough on Friday but was later resumed that night.

Ambulances were being redirected to nearby hospitals. The emergency room at RVC was handling only non-urgent walk-in patients.

Expectant mothers who go into labour were being told they should go to the Ajax or Pickering locations or to the Scarborough hospital campuses on Lawrence Avenue or Birchmount.

Emergency surgical and cardiac patients were also being re-directred.

Families were also being told to postpone their visits with patients until the water supply has been restored.
