On Nov. 17, Toronto Fire was called to a fire at a rooming house on Marconi Court where the blaze escalated to a two-alarm fire. The fire began in the kitchen, causing $100,000 of damage and involved 25 fire trucks and 85 firefighters. Three people were able to evacuate the home.
A fire that occurred at a duplex on O’Hara Avenue started with a one-alarm fire in an attic due to electrical failure. The residence was fully evacuated and five people were displaced. A total of 19 fire trucks and 63 firefighters were involved.
For both of the fires, fire prevention staff conducted a post-fire inspection and noted numerous alleged violations.
