An 18-month-old girl is in critical condition after a three-car collision that happened in Toronto’s east end Monday night.
Police say the girl and her mother were in a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed going southbound on Birchmount Road north of Finch Avenue at around 9:20 p.m. on Monday.
The vehicle crossed over into the northbound lanes sideswiping one car and striking a second car head-on.
The mother was not driving. She is also in the hospital, in serious condition but her injuries are not life-threatening.
Police told CityNews that there was a medical situation happening in the car at the time of the crash. The child wasn’t in a child seat.
Police continue to investigate but do say alcohol is not a factor.
The area was closed but has since reopened.
