Man, 19, dead after two-vehicle crash in Uxbridge

A 19-year-old man from Richmond Hill is dead after a two-vehicle collision in Uxbridge on Saturday afternoon, Durham Regional Police say.

Officers responded to the intersection of York-Durham Line and Sandford Road for a two-vehicle collision around 1:20 p.m.

Investigators say a Jeep Grand Cherokee was travelling southbound on York Durham Line approaching the intersection at Sandford Road when an eastbound Toyota Echo went through the stop sign and was struck by the Jeep.

The driver of the Toyota was transported to hospital in Newmarket where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have not released the name of the man.

The driver of the Jeep was a 56-year-old woman from Sandford who was taken to hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be released on Sunday.

Investigators determined that road and weather conditions were favourable at the time of the collision.
