Brampton man charged following fatal hit-and-run: police

A Brampton man is in police custody following the death 18-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Saturday night near Queen Street West and Chinguacousy Road.

Peel police responded to a call just before 11 p.m. for a collision at Bonnie Braes Drive and Kimborough Hollow.

Investigators said the driver failed to remain at the scene, but was later placed into custody.

The victim, an 18-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died in hospital.

Steven Richards, 26, of Brampton, has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death and was scheduled to appear at a bail hearing on Sunday.
