Police searching for father after woman found dead in Scarborough apartment

Toronto police are searching for the father of a woman who was found dead in a Scarborough apartment last week.

Simone “Shanni” Reid, 18, was found unconscious and not breathing at her home on Sheppard Avenue near Warden Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. on Friday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Reid missed school on Friday morning so her friends had gone to check up on her when her body was discovered.

At the time, police considered Reid’s death suspicious. On Sunday, police said Reid had been murdered.

Police are looking for the victim’s father, Winston “Paul” Reid. The 49-year-old may be driving a blue 2003 Toyota Sienna minivan, with licence plate BKSK 765.

As of right now the victim’s father is not considered a suspect but police would like to speak with him about the days leading up to his daughter’s death.

“We believe that her father would have been the last person, or certainly one of the last people, that was with her in the apartment during the evening hours. At this stage we have yet to locate him to notify him,” Acting Det. Sgt. Susan Gomes explained on Sunday. “We do have some information that he was supposed to be way on a working term, if you will, for a period of weeks.”

Gomes said police do know the cause of death but won’t be releasing it at this stage of the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
