Pumpkin theft caught ‘orange-handed’ on home security video

There is a pumpkin shortage. But, don’t panic and definitely don’t steal your neighbour’s.

Six pumpkins sat outside a house in North York when a young girl calmly walked up the driveway towards the house just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday. She abruptly snatches one of them up in her arms and bolts down the driveway, leaving only five lonely pumpkins on the doorstep.

Little did she know that the entire incident had been captured on the home’s security video.

“I still think it’s funny considering it’s only a two dollar pumpkin,” said homeowner George Michailidis. “I am just getting a chuckle out of this.”

And it seems a pumpkin thief is on the loose in another Toronto neighbourhood.

You may need to place your pumpkins inside your home overnight to ensure their safety.

Growers in the U.S. had 50 to 60 per cent of their region’s pumpkin crop wiped out by rain and had to turn to Canada for ours.

Thankfully, Canada, wasn’t faced with the same issue of having a low pumpkin supply but they still seem to be going missing.
