One family had a very special day at the ballpark thanks to Mayor John Tory.

Georgia and her sons Mathew, 12, and Lucas, 15, were supposed to be at the Rogers Centre to watch the Blue Jays take on the Texas Rangers in Game 2 of the ALDS but their dreams were thwarted by a technical glitch.

“We were online with Ticketmaster, we had eight seconds to print tickets, which we didn’t know, we had the confirmed credit card information and everything but because we didn’t print them in time they took our tickets away,” she explained.

So the family opted for the next best thing – sitting right in front of the big screen at Nathan Phillips Square.

But little did they know their dreams of going to the game were about to come true.

Mayor John Tory walked out into the square and handed the family his own personal tickets for the game, leaving the family in complete shock.

“That’s amazing, are you kidding? Who does that? That is so generous. We’re just the lucky ones,” Georgia said.

The Jays ended up losing the game 6-4 in the 14th inning giving the Rangers a 2-0 lead in the series.
